Consumer Health Resources: Websites for Chronic Pain

Submitted to the MLA News by Stephanie Geffert, Mid Atlantic Spine and Pain Physicians Network, the following are suggested websites for patients looking for information or support on chronic pain:

American Chronic Pain Association - includes resources about pain medications, a coping calendar with inspirational tips and advice, tools, videos and a reading list.

American Pain Foundation  - assistns people with pain through information, advocacy and support; includes the free PainAid online chat community.

Chronic Pain Support Group - community site where participants can share their stories with other members

ChronicBabe - blog designed to "improve the lives of young women living with chronic illnes." 

National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS): Chronic Pain Information Page - gives an overview of chronic pain, links to information on specific pain disorders.

National Pain Foundation
 - website provides tools such as a personalized pain jounral; information on diseases and conditions and discussions on medication safety. 

Pain Treatment Topics - clinical news, information, research and education; the pain artwork gallery features painting and drawings by pain sufferers.
