This post highlights two examples of social networking in anesthesiology:
gasexchange is a community forum for anesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine practitioners. This open community for questions and answers related to anesthesia, critical care or pain management represents a new model in medical publishing. Contributors develop a "reputation score" based on votes from other users; the score gives a rough indicator of how well trusted the contributor is within the community.
Another social collaboration of note is OpenAnesthesia.org, a Wiki developed by anesthesiologists at the University of Virginia with the goal of collecting and distributing evidence-based information regarding all aspects of anesthesia. OpenAnesthesia also have a podcast that you can subscribe to on iTunes.
